Olympia Dumbo, a luxury condominium completed in 2023 with 76 units in Brooklyn, New York, proactively sought to enhance its property value by adding EV charging infrastructure during construction. Initially, the property installed 10 standard NEMA 14-50 outlets (ie. dummy outlets) and 2 dual port traditional cable chargers for EV charging. However, the outlets lacked usage tracking capabilities, leading to increased electricity costs shared by all residents. Additionally, the two-tier garage lacked the network coverage required for the traditional cable chargers.

Solution:
In partnership with Qmerit, Pando Electric provided site designs and installed 30 Pando Smart Outlets at the property. By utilizing existing wiring and leveraging Pando’s adaptive load management system, we minimized costs and avoided the need for costly infrastructure upgrades, efficiently supporting the additional charging stations.

These smart outlets feature built-in metering, enabling accurate energy tracking and individual billing for EV drivers. Pando’s local mesh network with tap-and-charge functionality ensures seamless charging sessions without the need for cellular connections.

Result:
The property now offers EV charging for all parking spots, supporting both residents and guests with reliable access to charging day or night, thanks in large part to Pando’s 99.98% uptime. Additionally, Pando’s adaptive load management and daisy-chaining technology reduced upfront costs by 50%. and expensive infrastructure upgrades by maximizing the existing infrastructure’s efficiency. With its precise energy metering, Pando manages billing and automatically reimburses the property, eliminating concerns about high electricity costs.
